Biography
Commissioner Ronald Waters is a lifelong Prince George’s County resident and a proud member of the District Heights community for more than 56 years, including 46 years as a resident of the incorporated City of District Heights. His deep roots in the community, coupled with decades of professional leadership and public service, have equipped him with a strong understanding of the City’s history, its needs, and its vision for the future.
Commissioner Waters received his secondary education at Central High School in London, England, before attending the University of Maryland’s Munich campus. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his education at Prince George’s Community College, where he studied Computer Science.
His professional career began with IBM, where he served as a technician and received extensive technical and leadership training. He later applied those skills as a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several service stations and serving as Chief Executive Officer of Ron’s Automotive. Throughout his career, he demonstrated a commitment to excellence in business operations, customer service, and organizational leadership.
Dedicated to serving the residents of District Heights, Commissioner Waters has held several key leadership roles within the City. He has served as Deputy Director of the Citizens Action Patrol, Chair of the Charter Committee, and a member of the Ethics Committee. In these positions, he has worked to strengthen municipal governance, improve city policies, and promote transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.
Commissioner Waters is committed to fostering open communication between residents and local government. He believes that collaboration, integrity, and active community engagement are essential to building a stronger, more responsive City government.
Drawing on decades of experience living, working, and serving in District Heights, Commissioner Waters brings both historical perspective and forward-thinking leadership to the Commission. He remains dedicated to preserving the City’s rich heritage while advancing initiatives that improve the quality of life for all residents and ensure a vibrant future for generations to come.
