Mayor Pamela Janifer

Pamela Janifer is a proud native Washingtonian.  She attended schools in the District of Columbia Public School System before moving to Prince George’s County. She went on to attend Bowie State University and Towson University before moving to the City of District Heights, where she celebrates 26 years as a resident of the Incorporated City of District Heights.

 

Pamela retired in 2020 after almost 40 years of successful public service at various federal agencies. Her final years of service were with the Environmental Protection Agency, where as a Congressional Liaison her primary responsibilities were to provide technical advice and expertise related to environmental protections to Members of Congress and their staff. This experience gave her an opportunity to interact with, business owners, community members, advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, and local governments. Her collective professional experience has provided her with a skill set necessary in managing major programs and efforts, effectively working with others for a common goal, and building successful coalitions-attributes that will make her an outstanding leader and a uniquely qualified Mayor.

 

Pamela has been engaged in several community service and volunteerism activities. She’s a former member of the District Heights Youth Empowerment Program. Pamela’s love for the youth in her community has extended to her volunteerism and support at District Heights and North Forestville Elementary Schools. Pamela is the Commission Liaison to the Charter Committee, the Board of Supervisors of Elections and the Ethics Commission.

 

From 2018-2019, Pamela had the honor of serving as Commissioner in Ward 2, completing the remaining Commissioner term of an elected official. Pamela was reelected for a 4-year term in 2022 and continues to proudly serve her community.

 

Pamela is grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of the City of District Heights and will ensure the voices of the community are heard, and their concerns are addressed. Pamela will build on her current service to the community and that includes actively listening and talking with you about what you’d like to see in our community; it includes collaborating and compromising with the Commission with full transparency to address the needs of our community; and it includes trust and confidence that your representative is being honest, and will work with you.
