Biography

Rahsheim Wright a Washington D.C. native and a proud graduate of the Prince Goerge’s County public schools system growing up in the Forestville community. . Rahsheim has spent over 25 plus years in issue advocacy and electoral politics.

After earning his B.A. in mass communications from Savannah State University, Rahsheim began working on corporate public relations campaigns with Cumulus Broadcasting, WTOC News, a local CBS affiliate. Knowing there is a gap in organizing and empowering communities of color, he returned to the political arena and continues to advocate for underserved communities. Rahsheim currently works for the Service Employees International Union in Washington, D.C., where he manages union partnerships and advises on policy issues, electoral politics and government affairs. Rahsheim also served as an appointee in the Obama Administration in the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs where he handled issues including disability employment policy, civil rights, pay equity, workforce development and job training. Before joining the Obama administration, he served as a senior aide to former U.S. Congresswoman Donna Edwards, and worked on criminal justice, education, veterans, labor, and community development issues.

Rahsheim is very active in his local community, serving on the Board of Directors for a 210 year old DC based nonprofit Hillcrest Children and Family Center, and representing over 6,000 residents as a Commissioner in the City of District Heights, Maryland a municipality that borders DC along with being proud brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
