Commissioner, Ward 1
Biography
Commissioner Stephanie M. Holland has proudly called District Heights home for more than 20 years, first becoming connected to the community in 1980 when her father relocated to the city. A graduate of DC Public Schools, she earned an Associate of Arts in Communications from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the People.
Commissioner Holland brings nearly two decades of federal service and leadership experience to the City of District Heights. She serves as the Lead Property Disposal Specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), where she oversees the disposal and auction of retired federal assets. A certified auctioneer with more than 19 years of experience calling federal auctions, she manages the sale of approximately $1.2 million in surplus government property and coordinates the recycling of nearly $5 million in retired office equipment and furniture each fiscal year.
Her commitment to excellence has earned her recognition from the USDA Office of Operations for outstanding performance, exceptional service, and leadership in fundraising efforts. In addition to her operational responsibilities, Commissioner Holland conducts outreach and marketing to strengthen partnerships with federal agencies and expand participation in USDA disposal programs.
Beyond her professional career, Commissioner Holland is a published author of three books and a regular contributor to her agency’s newsletter. She also played an instrumental role as a member of the District Heights Charter Committee, helping to revise and modernize the City’s Charter.
A dedicated public servant, Commissioner Holland actively participates in community events, city meetings, and volunteer initiatives. She is passionate about fostering open communication between residents and local leadership and believes that strong community engagement is the foundation of effective government.
In her free time, Commissioner Holland enjoys sewing, crafting handmade candles and soaps, and volunteering with local elementary schools.
