Commissioner Ward 2 – Edwin Green

Commissioner Green was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in a large family with eight brothers and six sisters. A graduate of Eastern Senior High School’s Class of 1968, he continued his education at Federal City College, now known as the University of the District of Columbia (UDC).

 

His professional career began in the food service industry, where he advanced into management with Gino’s, a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise. After relocating to Prince George’s County, he served in management with Fotomat Corporation before launching Green’s Maintenance Company. As Founder, President, and CEO, he successfully owned and operated the business for more than 30 years before retiring.

 

Commissioner Green has dedicated decades to public service and community advocacy throughout Prince George’s County. His work has focused on community development, public safety, education, health, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement. His commitment to serving residents is reflected through his involvement with numerous organizations and advisory groups, including:

Commissioner Green has been happily married to his wife, Lucy, for more than 37 years. Together, they have raised seven children and remain deeply committed to serving their community through civic engagement, volunteerism, and faith.

 

He is a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park and continues to advocate for initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods, support families, and improve the quality of life for all District Heights residents.
