Mission
It is the mission of the District Heights Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the citizens of the City of District Heights we serve; to aggressively investigate and report criminal activity, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime, and to enhance public safety while working with the diverse communities to improve their quality of life.
Our mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence.
Our motto, “to protect and to serve,” is not just a slogan; it is our way of life. We will work in partnership with the citizens who live, work, or visit our community and do our best, within the law, to solve community problems that affect public safety. Overview
The City of District Heights Police Department has an authorized strength of ten (10) sworn members and one (1) civilian Administrative Specialist. There are also three (3) non-sworn City Code Enforcement personnel.
District Heights Traffic Safety Reminder!
The City of District Heights would like to remind all residents and visitors that our Speed Camera and Stop Sign Enforcement Camera programs are active throughout the city. These enforcement tools are in place to improve roadway safety, reduce violations, and protect our children, families, and neighborhoods.
Stop Sign Camera Locations:
- Kipling Parkway at Mason Street
- Mason Street at Kipling Parkway
- Marbury Drive at Kipling Parkway
- Rochell Avenue at District Heights Parkway
- Kipling Parkway at Council Drive
Speed Camera Locations:
- Silver Hill Road at Scott Key Drive (both sides of the roadway)
- Marbury Drive at Roslyn Avenue
- County Road at District Heights Parkway (District Heights Elementary School zone)
- 6600 block of District Heights Parkway (Woodland Springs Apartments)
Our goal is not simply to issue citations, but to change driver behavior. Please be mindful of posted speed limits and always come to a full and complete stop at all stop signs. Safe, responsible driving habits help keep District Heights a safe and thriving community.
