Welcome to the District Heights Police Department.
I am Kirk Banton, Chief of Police, and it is an honor to serve the residents, businesses, and visitors of our city. My commitment is to lead a department that is professional, accountable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the community we serve.
One of my highest priorities is building and maintaining trust. That requires open and honest communication in both directions. When our officers are doing a good job, I encourage you to let them know. When we fall short or there are areas where we can improve, I want to hear that as well. My door is open, and I want our residents to know they can have a conversation with their Chief of Police.
Our approach to public safety is grounded in Education Before Enforcement. Whenever appropriate, we will work to educate residents, businesses, and visitors, encourage voluntary compliance, and solve problems collaboratively before enforcement becomes necessary. At the same time, we will remain proactive in addressing crime, protecting constitutional rights, and holding those who threaten the safety of our community accountable.
Guided by Honor, Integrity, and Professionalism, our officers are committed to treating every person with dignity, fairness, and respect. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we cannot achieve our goals without the involvement and partnership of our community.
My measure of success is simple: residents feel safe in their neighborhoods, businesses feel confident operating in our city, visitors feel welcome, and our community has trust and confidence in its police department.
